Job Search Central is free to use. The question we get is what the tokens are actually for, so here it is plainly.
Searching is free. So is running the ATS formatter over your resume. Tokens only come into it for the AI work on a specific job, and the cost is simple:
- Tailoring your documents to a job, or scoring that job for ATS compatibility: 1 token
- Applying with the LLM: 1 more token
So a job you score and then apply to costs 2 tokens, and a job you only score costs 1. A Pro license makes both of those unlimited, scoring and applying, so a Pro account does not draw down tokens at all.
Every account starts with a free allotment, and more free tokens are available (see Get free tokens).
Each of those steps calls an AI model every time it runs, and that is not free on our end. Charging for them by the job, rather than putting the whole product behind a subscription, is what keeps everything else free.
A job search is also bursty. Some weeks you are applying constantly, and other weeks you barely open the tool at all. A flat monthly subscription does not match that pattern, especially for anyone job hunting on a tight budget. Token-based usage means you are not paying for the weeks you do not use it.
